![]() I thought my sign said, Parents may check books out of the library every Monday through Thursday from 2:30 to 3:00. He wouldn’t tell me other than to say I needed to take it down NOW. I asked several times what the problem was or what my sign actually said. This teacher didn’t ask me to change anything. I’m used to having to ask lots of teachers to proof my stuff because what is okay in one country is not always okay in another. When something is wrong he just talks across the library and tells me to change a word or a letter. Just shook his head and left.Īn hour later another teacher came with his class. ” Is something wrong with my sign?" He didn’t say. ![]() I know you’re just learning.” What?" I asked. The sign had been on the door for three months when a teacher walked in, sat on my circulation desk and read the sign. I decided to see if putting a sign on the library door in Spanish would work. I was learning Spanish but was not fluent yet. Most of my parents spoke very little or no English. I was going to have to figure something out to stop the interruptions. Instead of getting them during the mom/tot program on Fridays they were coming all hours of the day. I encouraged the parents to take the books but it was getting out of hand. ![]() I had a mom/tot program and the parents were allowed to check out up to 25 books at a time. What if it was on a sign you made and hung for the whole world to see?Ī few years ago I had a lot of parents wanting to check books out of the school library to read to their toddlers. What if your mistake was even worse and no one told you. Have you ever messed up and no one told you because they didn’t want to embarrass you or be the one to tell you? Like when you have toilet paper stuck to your eye glasses or your slip is showing or the back of your skirt is tucked up into your panties.
